Amanda Ramsay was born and raised in York, Pennsylvania and has resided in Colorado since 2001.
My work investigates shadows and light, sequence and order. I gravitate towards making grids, patterns, and shapes that are architectural or industrial in nature, though they can be derivative of nature itself.
Form and light work together to create a juxtaposition of sharp lines and shadows, in which upon, I investigate the way light interacts with the surfaces. I incorporate sequences of shapes or patterns to establish either symmetry, asymmetry, or even movement within the piece.
The making of this work is process oriented and partially improvised. I am currently working on a body of work made of casted concrete, resin, and plaster.
